Description
Ridol 1 MG Solution is a very effective anti-diarrhea medication. It is used to relieve the symptoms of diarrhea that starts suddenly and lasts for a few days. It is also used to treat long-term diarrhea associated with other diseases.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a known history of allergy to Loperamide (the primary constituent of Ridol 1 MG Solution).

Abdominal pain

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have stomach pain without loose stools.

Acute colitis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from an infected colon or infectious diarrhea/dysentery. Symptoms may include bloody stools and high fever. The infection could be caused by Clostridium, Salmonella, Shigella or Campylobacter strains of bacteria.

Antibiotic induced diarrhea

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have an episode of diarrhea caused by consumption of an antibiotic.

Pregnancy

Use of this medicine is not recommended for pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risk associated with use. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding

Use of this medicine is not recommended while breastfeeding an infant. If it becomes absolutely necessary to use this medicine then breastfeeding should be discontinued. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings

Dizziness

Use of this medicine may cause drowsiness and dizziness which may impair physical activities.

Hypersensitivity

Use of this medicine may cause allergic reactions of the skin in some patients. Some cases of severe allergic conditions like Steven's Johnson Sundrome or Toxic epidermal necrolysis have been reported with the use of this medicine.

No symptomatic improvement

Use of this medicine should be discontinued if the symptoms do not improve within 48 hours in patients with acute diarrhea.

Liver disease

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with liver function impairment.

Heart conditions

Use of this medicine in large quantities may cause a severe adverse effect on the heart and blood vessels. Non-prescription use of this medicine must be avoided.

Other medicines

Report the current use of all medicines including supplements and herbs to the doctor as this medicine is known to interact with other medicines that you might be possibly consuming. Use of medicines to treat heart conditions and infections should be informed to the doctor before taking this medicine.

Infectious diarrhea

Use of this medicine is not recommended for infectious diarrhea characterized by the presence of pus or blood in stools, high fever etc. Acute diarrhea and dysentery caused by bacteria should not be treated with this medicine.

AIDS

This medicine should be used with caution in patients having AIDS and taking antiviral medications.

Pediatric use

This medicine should be used with caution in patients aged below 6 years. Use in children below 2 years of age is not recommended.

Constipation

Use of this medication is not recommended in patients suffering from blockage of intestine and constipation.

Missed Dose

This medicine is not taken in a scheduled way and hence missing a dose is not possible. However, care should be taken to not exceed the daily recommended limit.

Overdose

Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, confusion, severe stomach cramps and pain, constipation etc.

Interaction with Alcohol

Description

Use of alcohol while taking this medicine can significantly increase some side effects like dizziness, sleepiness, and difficulty in concentrating. Some people suffer from additional side effects like impaired thinking and judgment.

Take Ridol 1 MG Solution as instructed by the doctor. This medicine can be taken with or without food. Do not take more than the prescribed dose or use for longer than recommended. How it works
This medicine works by reducing the movement of food and water from the stomach and intestine. The reduced bowel activity makes the food stay longer in the intestine resulting in increased absorption of water and symptoms of diarrhea are relieved.
