Description

Rapod 50 MG Capsule is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a variety of infections caused by bacteria like pneumonia, sinusitis, cystitis and ear infections. This medicine is not recommended for use in case of common cold, flu or viral infections since it is active against infections caused by bacteria only. Use of this medicine in infants less than 2 months of age is not recommended.

General warnings

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to Rapod 50 MG Capsule or Beta-lactam Antibiotics. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any allergic symptoms like rash, itching, nausea or vomiting, swelling of the lips, hands, and feet, etc.

Diarrhea

Discontinue the use of this medicine as per the doctor's instructions if severe diarrhea occurs after receiving Rapod 50 MG Capsule. This medicine may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile, resulting in severe diarrhea.

Impaired Kidney function

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from any kidney disease. Appropriate dose adjustments are to be made based on CrCl.

Drug resistance

Usage of Rapod 50 MG Capsule without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. Do not use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients having a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Report any incidence of severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and blood in stools to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.
