Description

Potrate-10 Tablet is a potassium salt of citric acid. It is used to dissolve kidney stones in patients with renal tubular acidosis, a disease that occurs when the kidneys fail to remove acids into the urine.

Severe renal impairment

General warnings

Hyperkalemia

Potrate-10 Tablet may increase the blood potassium levels drastically in some patients. Close monitoring of blood potassium levels, appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required based on the clinical condition.

Gastrointestinal irritation

Potrate-10 Tablet may cause gastrointestinal irritation and hence, should be used with extreme caution in patients with gastrointestinal diseases. It is advised to take Potrate-10 Tablet along with meals to avoid gastrointestinal irritation. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required based on the clinical condition.

Dehydration

Potrate-10 Tablet should be used with extreme caution in patients with acute dehydration due to the risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of the clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required based on the clinical condition.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

How it works
Potrate-10 Tablet makes some changes in the urine and alkalizes the stone-forming salts such as calcium phosphate, calcium oxalate, and uric acid thereby dissolves the kidney stones. It also raises urinary pH and makes the urine less acidic.
