Description
Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefpodoxime. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It is also used to treat typhoid fever in children. This medicine prevents infection by killing or stopping the growth of the bacteria. Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections. Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup shows some side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Do not use this medicine if your child is previously allergic to it. Consult your doctor if any side effects persist for a longer period. Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup is an effective medicine used in infants above 2 months of age. Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup can be given with or without food. Before administration, dissolve the powder in a glass of water. For the ease of remembering, give the dry syrup to your child at the same time every day. Once you started using this medicine for your child, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed. Avoid unnecessary use of Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup as excessive use may cause the bacteria to become resistant to treatment. Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup may not be suitable for all children. Allergy

Antibiotic resistance

The entire course of treatment with Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup should be completed, even if the condition of your child gets better after taking few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Seizures

Avoid using Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup or maintain caution if your child has any seizure episodes, as it can worsen his/her health condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required.

Diarrhoea

Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if your child experiences severe diarrhoea while receiving this medicine.

Antacids

If your child is taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can reduce the absorption of Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup by reducing the acidity level in the stomach. Therefore, it is recommended to give this antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after giving antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to miss any dose of Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup. Give the medicine to your child as soon as you remember. If a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Overdose

Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup is filtered by the kidney and excreted through urine. Hence, maintain caution while using Polypod 50 MG Dry Syrup if your child has any kidney disease as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.

The reconstituted suspension may be stored under refrigeration (2 to 8 degrees Celsius) for a duration of 14 days. Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the expiry date.
