Description
Oflotas 200 MG Tablet is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting your lungs, skin, and urinary tract (the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that causes infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Oflotas 200 MG Tablet can cause side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or become worse. Avoid activities that require mental focus like driving and operating machines as this medicine may cause dizziness. Oflotas 200 MG Tablet can be taken with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will determine the dose of this medicine based on your condition. Take this medicine at the same time every day for the ease of remembering. Complete the whole course of treatment for maximum benefit and to prevent the risk of re-infection. Oflotas 200 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Avoid taking this medicine if you have tendinitis (a condition that causes swelling of the tissues that attach bones with muscles) or myasthenia gravis (a condition that causes severe weakness of the muscles under voluntary control). Oflotas 200 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver or kidney problems. Allergy

Tendinitis or tendon rupture

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use Oflotas 200 MG Tablet if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone) as may worsen your condition.

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle weakness condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control like arms and legs. Oflotas 200 MG Tablet should be avoided if you have myasthenia gravis as it may worsen your condition.

Pregnancy

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet is not recommended to be used in pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding

General warnings

Muscle damage

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Oflotas 200 MG Tablet, even if the condition gets better after taking a few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness and interfere with eyesight. Hence, do not drive vehicles or operate machines after taking this medicine.

Photosensitivity

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet may make you more sensitive to sunlight or tanning lights. Use sunscreens or wear protective clothing before stepping outside to avoid undesirable effects.

Diarrhoea

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody.

Antacids

If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can increase the time takes for Oflotas 200 MG Tablet to act on your body. Hence, it is recommended to take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Do not skip any dose of Oflotas 200 MG Tablet. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose time is near, skip the missed dose and take your next scheduled dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Oflotas 200 MG Tablet.

Central nervous system disorders

Take Oflotas 200 MG Tablet with caution if you have nerve problems, seizures, depression, and psychotic disorders as it can worsen these conditions. Inform your doctor immediately if these reactions occur.

Colitis

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet is used with extreme caution if you have gastrointestinal (stomach and intestines) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), as it may worsen your condition.

QT Prolongation

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet may cause heart rhythm problems called prolonged QT intervals (an electrical heartbeat disturbance) if you are taking heart medications. It may result in fast, rapid, and irregular heartbeats.

Kidney diseases

Oflotas 200 MG Tablet should be taken with caution if you have kidney disease as a damaged kidney may lead to accumulation of this medicine and increases the risk of side effects. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine as needed based on your condition.
Food interactions
Avoid consuming multivitamins with minerals while taking Oflotas 200 MG Tablet. If needed it is suggested to take this medicine before 2 to 4 hours or after 4 to 6 hours of taking multivitamins with minerals.
