General warnings

Allergic reactions

Nexpan 20 mg Tablet is not recommended for use if the patient is allergic to it or other drugs of the same group viz. Albendazole, Mebendazole etc. Additional caution should be exercised if the drug is administered intravenously.

Liver disease

Nexpan 20 mg Tablet should be given with suitable adjustments in dosage for patients having liver diseases. Any liver condition should be reported to the Doctor prior to taking the medicine.

Bone fractures

Use of high dose of Nexpan 20 mg Tablet for prolonged duration may increase the risk of bone fractures especially in older patients and women. Supplements like Calcium Citrate and Vitamin D should be taken after consulting the Doctor.

Vitamin B12 deficiency

Long-term treatment with Nexpan 20 mg Tablet may decrease the absorption of Vitamin B-12 in the body. Supplements can be taken after consulting the Doctor.

Diarrhea

The use of this medicine has been associated with the occurrence of diarrhea in some patients. Report any such instance to the doctor especially if you experience diarrhea that lasts for more than 1-2 days.

Irregular heart rate

The use of this medicine may cause irregularities in pulse and heart beat and hence should be used with caution in patients suffering from a heart condition that causes heart rhythm abnormalities.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped.

Overdose

Contact your doctor if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms may include a severe headache, increased pulse, and fatigue.

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients having an impairment of normal liver function. Suitable dose adjustments and frequent clinical monitoring are recommended in such cases.

Osteoporosis

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients who are at the risk of fractured bones due to calcium imbalances and brittle bones. Report any such instance to the doctor before receiving this medicine.

Hypomagnesemia

Report any incidences of magnesium level imbalance to the doctor. The imbalance could occur due to a disease or due to other medication used by the patient. Regular monitoring is recommended for patients taking Nexpan 20 mg Tablet.
