Description
Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet is an anti-thyroid medicine. It is used to treat hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid gland). It is also used to relieve the symptoms of hyperthyroidism before radioactive iodine treatment or thyroid surgery. This medicine works by lowering the production of thyroxine. Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet causes rapid weight loss as the most common side-effect. You may also experience other side effects like diarrhoea, joint pain, itching, skin rash, fever, headache, drowsiness, etc. These side effects may subside on their own. If they bother you for a longer time or worsen, consult your doctor. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it.  Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Take it regularly at the same time for ease of remembering and for better results. Do not discontinue using this medicine without consulting your doctor.  Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet may not be suitable for all people. It is not recommended for use in children below two years of age as the safety and efficacy data for use is not available. Inform your doctor if you have a low blood count and liver problems. Also, inform about all your other health issues and ongoing medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine.

Use in children

Bleeding disorders

Take Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet with extreme caution if you have bleeding disorders. Your doctor may suggest tests to closely monitor your prothrombin time and INR (blood tests to measure the time it takes for your blood to clot) if necessary while taking this medicine.

Surgeries

Inform your doctor about the use of Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet before undergoing any surgery, as it may lead to excessive bleeding.

Hypothyroidism

The use of Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet for a prolonged period of time may result in hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone levels). Therefore, it is necessary to regularly monitor your thyroid levels.

Liver disorder

Use Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet with caution if you have a mild to moderate liver disorder. This medicine may not break down and accumulate in your body, leading to undesired side effects.

Low blood count

Use Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet if you have a low blood count as it may worsen your condition. Your doctor may suggest a regular full blood count test if you have poor memory or confusion.

Driving vehicles and operating machines

Neo Mercazole 10 Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some people. Hence, do not perform any activity such as driving vehicles or operating heavy machines if you are on this medication.

Missed Dose
