MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY is a benzodiazepine medication used for the short-term treatment of seizure clusters (periods of increased seizure/fits) in individuals aged 12 years and older. This medicine is not a replacement for daily seizure medicine. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY may cause some side effects like sleepiness, headache, runny nose and nasal discomfort. Inform your doctor if the side effects become severe or persist for a long time. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY should only be used in the nose. Your doctor will provide instructions to you and your caregiver on how to identify seizure clusters and how to use the product appropriately. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY should not b used if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor about all other medicines that you are taking currently and also if you have medical conditions like liver, kidney or heart problems. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy

Narrow-angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a sudden rise of intraocular pressure (pressure within your eye) due to blocked drainage canals in your eyes. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY is not recommended for use in such cases as it can worsen your condition.

General warnings

Paradoxical reactions

Paradoxical reactions are reactions to drugs that worsen the symptoms for which the medicine is prescribed. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY should be used with caution due to the increased risk of Paradoxical reactions. These may include excitability, nervousness, hostility, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc. This risk is especially higher in people with mental disorders. Inform your doctor if you experience any changes in mood and behaviour during treatment with this medicine.

Impaired kidney and liver function

MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY is broken down in your liver and excreted through urine. If you have problems with your liver and kidney function, this medicine can further worsen it. Hence avoid taking this medicine if you have such conditions.

Driving or operating machines

MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY may cause dizziness or drowsiness. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Use in children

MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Suicidal tendencies

An increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviour is observed while taking MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY. Hence, close observation for any change in mood or behaviour is necessary while using MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY. Take this medicine with caution if you have depression or any other mental health conditions. Report any mood changes to your doctor immediately so that counselling can be done. If the symptoms persist your doctor may advise an alternate medicine.

Missed Dose

Use the missed dose of MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose of MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY.

Respiratory Depression

MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY should be taken with extreme caution if you have respiratory depression due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY may worsen your condition; hence take it with caution if you have a history of congestive heart failure.

Depression

Depression is an alteration in a person's mood. MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY should be taken with caution if you have depression or any other disorders of the nervous system as it may worsen your condition.

Obesity

Obesity is the condition when you accumulate a harmful amount of fat in your body. If the second dose of MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY is used, administer it in the other nostril. Do not give more than 2 doses of MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY to treat a seizure cluster. If the seizures do not stop after MIDACIP 1.25 NASAL SPRAY is used, get emergency medical help immediately.
