Description
Maczone Plus 375 Injection is an antibiotic with the combination of Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam. It is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the lungs, nose, throat, ears, urinary tract etc. This medicine kills or stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. Maczone Plus 375 Injection is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Maczone Plus 375 Injection shows side effects like diarrhoea, pain at the injection site, headache, weakness, and dizziness. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it. Contact your doctor if any side effects are seen for a long time. Maczone Plus 375 Injection is injected into your vein or muscle by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic. Do not inject it on your own. Your doctor will determine the dose you need each day and how often the injections should be given. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. Maczone Plus 375 Injection may interact with calcium-containing products. Hence avoid using this medicine in infants and neonates (babies less than 28 days old) receiving calcium products. Inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or stomach and intestinal problems before taking the medicine.

Prothrombin time

There may be alterations in prothrombin time (a test used to check for bleeding problems) while receiving Maczone Plus 375 Injection. Regular monitoring of prothrombin time and Vitamin K administration may be necessary, especially if you have low vitamin K levels, are malnourished, or have liver problems.

Antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic resistance occur when bacteria develops the ability to defeat the medicine that was intended to kill them. Hence to avoid such resistance, you should always complete the entire course of treatment with Maczone Plus 375 Injection even if you fell better after a few doses.

Diarrhoea

Maczone Plus 375 Injection can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if you experience severe diarrhoea while receiving this medicine.

Use in neonates

Maczone Plus 375 Injection is not recommended for use in infants less than 28 days of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Liver diseases

Maczone Plus 375 Injection may increase your liver enzymes and cause liver damage. It is recommended that you regularly monitor the liver enzyme levels while on treatment with Maczone Plus 375 Injection and even after treatment with this medicine is complete.

How it works
Maczone Plus 375 Injection is a combination of Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam. Ceftriaxone works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls. This helps in stopping the growth and multiplication of the bacteria and eventually kills them. Sulbactam inhibits some chemicals produced by the bacteria and makes them more sensitive to ceftriaxone activity.
