Description
Luramax 40 Tablet is an antipsychotic medicine (medicines used to treat mental conditions). It is used for the treatment of schizophrenia (a mental condition in which a person is unable to differentiate between the real-world and imaginary world) and episodes of depression in bipolar disorder (a mental condition with extreme mood swings with an emotional high or low). It works by blocking the release of certain chemicals that cause such conditions.
Luramax 40 Tablet shows common side effects such as stiffness in muscles, weight gain, nausea, vomiting, running nose, sleep problems, and restlessness. If these symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor for further assistance. Avoid driving vehicles or operating heavy machines as it can cause drowsiness.
Luramax 40 Tablet should be taken with food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow it as a whole with plenty of water. Take the medicine at the same time daily for ease of remembering. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can increase the concentration of Luramax 40 Tablet in your bloodstream leading to increased side effects. Do not discontinue the medicine without consulting your doctor, as it can worsen your condition.
Luramax 40 Tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Take this medicine with caution if you have heart conditions, depression, abnormally low blood pressure, increased fat levels, high blood sugar levels, or low white blood cell count. Inform your doctor before taking the medicine if you have breast cancer, high prolactin levels, seizures (a brain condition due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain leading to jerking movements, fear, anxiety, and loss of consciousness), or liver/kidney conditions.
Luramax 40 Tablet is not recommended if you have neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), characterised by high body temperature, muscle rigidity, altered mental status, irregular blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, etc., as it can worsen your condition.
Luramax 40 Tablet should only be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting your doctor. It is not recommended for use in children below 10 years of age to treat bipolar disorder and below 13 years of age to treat schizophrenia.
