Description
Insed Atomiser is a benzodiazepine medication used for the short-term treatment of seizure clusters (periods of increased seizure/fits) in individuals aged 12 years and older. This medicine is not a replacement for daily seizure medicine. Insed Atomiser may cause some side effects like sleepiness, headache, runny nose and nasal discomfort. Inform your doctor if the side effects become severe or persist for a long time. Insed Atomiser should only be used in the nose. Your doctor will provide instructions to you and your caregiver on how to identify seizure clusters and how to use the product appropriately. Insed Atomiser should not b used if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor about all other medicines that you are taking currently and also if you have medical conditions like liver, kidney or heart problems. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy

Avoid using Insed Atomiser if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling of the face/tongue/throat, breathing difficulty, etc.

Narrow-angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a sudden rise of intraocular pressure (pressure within your eye) due to blocked drainage canals in your eyes. Insed Atomiser is not recommended for use in such cases as it can worsen your condition.

General warnings

Paradoxical reactions

Paradoxical reactions are reactions to drugs that worsen the symptoms for which the medicine is prescribed. Insed Atomiser should be used with caution due to the increased risk of Paradoxical reactions. These may include excitability, nervousness, hostility, nightmares, sleep disturbances, etc. This risk is especially higher in people with mental disorders. Inform your doctor if you experience any changes in mood and behaviour during treatment with this medicine.

Impaired kidney and liver function

Insed Atomiser is broken down in your liver and excreted through urine. If you have problems with your liver and kidney function, this medicine can further worsen it. Hence avoid taking this medicine if you have such conditions.

Driving or operating machines

Insed Atomiser may cause dizziness or drowsiness. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Use in children

Insed Atomiser is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Suicidal tendencies

An increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviour is observed while taking Insed Atomiser. Hence, close observation for any change in mood or behaviour is necessary while using Insed Atomiser. Take this medicine with caution if you have depression or any other mental health conditions. Report any mood changes to your doctor immediately so that counselling can be done. If the symptoms persist your doctor may advise an alternate medicine.

Missed Dose

Use the missed dose of Insed Atomiser as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose of Insed Atomiser.

Respiratory Depression

Respiratory depression or hypoventilation is a breathing disorder that occurs when there is not enough gas exchange between the lungs and the atmosphere, thus causing slow and ineffective breathing. Insed Atomiser should be taken with extreme caution if you have respiratory depression due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently. Insed Atomiser may worsen your condition; hence take it with caution if you have a history of congestive heart failure.

Depression

Depression is an alteration in a person's mood. Insed Atomiser should be taken with caution if you have depression or any other disorders of the nervous system as it may worsen your condition.

Obesity

Obesity is the condition when you accumulate a harmful amount of fat in your body. Insed Atomiser should be taken with caution in obese people due to the increased risk of severe side effects. Report any unusual symptoms to your doctor immediately. Your doctor may suggest an alternative or adjust the dose accordingly.
Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit or grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with Insed Atomiser due to the increased risk of serious and life-threatening reactions.

Follow all the instructions given by your doctor and administer Insed Atomiser exactly as advised. Do not administer in larger or smaller amounts than prescribed and follow the instructions for use. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of any severe side effects. If the seizure cluster continues after 10 minutes of administration of the first dose of Insed Atomiser, you may use the second dose if have been told to do so by your healthcare provider. If the second dose of Insed Atomiser is used, administer it in the other nostril. Do not give more than 2 doses of Insed Atomiser to treat a seizure cluster. If the seizures do not stop after Insed Atomiser is used, get emergency medical help immediately.
