Description
Gramoneg Suspension is a quinolone antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections caused by gram-negative microorganisms, including E. coli, Proteus species, Enterobacter species, and Klebsiella species. This medicine should only be used if there is a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection.

General warnings

QT prolongation

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of QT prolongation due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. This risk is especially higher in patients with heart diseases or electrolyte disturbances and elderly patients. Report any incidence of discomfort in the chest, heart palpitations, etc., to the doctor on priority. Close monitoring of heart function and vital signs, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Drug-resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug-resistant.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of this medicine has been associated with symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, lightheadedness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

This medicine may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile, resulting in severe diarrhea.

G6PD deficiency

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with G6PD deficiency due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of the clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases.
