Glucagen 1 mg Injection is a polypeptide hormone which is used in the treatment of conditions like low blood glucose to increase the concentration of glucose in the blood. It is also used during radiologic examinations of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract for relaxing the smooth muscles. This medicine should be used with caution in the pediatric population.

The amount of time required for this medicine to show its effect on glucose is approximately 1 to 5 minutes after an intravenous administration and 10 minutes after a subcutaneous administration. For radiologic examination purposes, this medicine shows its effect within 1 minute after an intravenous administration and within 4-10 minutes after an intramuscular administration.

Duration of effect

For its action on glucose, the time until which this medicine remains active in the body ranges from 30 to 90 minutes depending on the route of administration. For radiologic examination purposes, the time until which this medicine remains active in the body ranges from 9 to 32 minutes depending on the route of administration.
