Description
Famtrex 250 mg Tablet is an antiviral medicine. It is used in the treatment of infections caused by herpes viruses, including genital herpes (a sexually transmitted infection that causes sores in the genital and anal area), cold sores (small painful blisters around the mouth or other areas of the face), shingles (viral infection that causes painful rashes or blisters on the skin). It is also used in the treatment of recurrent episodes of herpes simplex infections, affecting the mouth or genital area, in people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection (a condition that occurs when the virus attacks the immune system and interferes with your body's ability to fight infections or diseases). Famtrex 250 mg Tablet works by slowing the growth of viruses. However, this medicine does not cure the infections but helps to reduce the symptoms (such as pain, itching, tenderness, etc.), heal the sores, and decrease the severity of the condition. It also does not prevent you from spreading the virus to others. Famtrex 250 mg Tablet can cause side effects such as headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, etc. Consult your doctor if they persist or become severe. Famtrex 250 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Take this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level in your blood. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Continue taking this medicine for the recommended duration. Avoid stopping the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it may cause a recurrence of the infection or worsen the existing infection. Famtrex 250 mg Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Use this medicine with caution if you have severe kidney problems. Also, inform your doctor if you have other medical conditions and about your current medications. Famtrex 250 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in children less than 18 years due to the lack of safety and efficacy data. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medication.
