Description
Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefixime as an active ingredient. It is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the lungs, throat, kidneys, bladder, ureters and urethra. It is also used to treat a sexually transmitted infection called gonorrhoea that infects both men and women. This medicine kills and stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT has some common side effects such as diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist. Avoid any activity that requires concentration if you feel drowsy after taking this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT can be taken with or without food. Disperse it in a glass of water and swallow the solution, do not crush or chew the tablet. Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT use should not be stopped suddenly, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance. Using Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT when it is not required can make it less effective for future infections. Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT may not be suitable for all people. Inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney issues before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor before using Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding woman. Contact your doctor if you do not feel better even after completing the treatment course.

General warnings

Clostridium difficile-Associated Diarrhoea

Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. This leads to an overgrowth of the Clostridium bacteria which releases a toxin that causes severe diarrhoea. Seek medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Consult your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Liver diseases

Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT may increase liver enzyme levels and cause liver swelling. Inform your doctor if have any liver problems. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required based on your condition.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics), even if your condition gets better after taking few doses. If you still feel unwell after completing your course, consult your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits. Hence, do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine.

Allergic skin reaction

Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT is likely to cause allergic skin reactions. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, or severe itching/swelling, especially on the face.

Seizures

Haemolytic Anaemia

Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT may rarely cause haemolytic anaemia where red blood cells are destroyed before the end of the normal lifespan of the cells. Your doctor may advise a blood test while using this medicine if required.

Try not to skip a dose of Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT. And if a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Colitis

Colitis is the inflammation of the large intestine. Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use this medicine with extreme caution if you have any stomach and intestinal diseases, particularly colitis, as it may worsen your health condition.

Kidney diseases

Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT is filtered by the kidney and excreted through urine. An impaired kidney can lead to its accumulation and toxicity. Hence, maintain caution while taking Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.

The Coombs' test is used to detect antibodies that act against the surface of your red blood cells. A false-positive result may be obtained if this test is performed while taking Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT.

Urine ketones test

This test measures ketone levels in your urine. A false-positive result may be obtained if this test is performed while taking Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT.
Take Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT with or without food. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Do not take antacids within 2 hours of taking Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT as they affect its absorption. Usage instructions- Cefilife 100 MG Tablet DT dissolves quickly in water. It can be dispersed in a teaspoonful or a glass of boiled and cooled water before administration. Do not take if the tablet is not dissolved/dispersed completely in the water. Consult your doctor immediately if diarrhoea or allergic reactions occur after using this medicine. Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the expiry date. Ensure that unused medicine is disposed of properly. Do not give your medicine to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.
