Description

Cefilab 200 MG Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a variety of conditions such as urinary tract infections, throat infections and lung infections caused by bacteria. This medicine is not recommended for use in case of a common cold, flu or other viral infections since it is active against the infections caused by certain bacterial species only. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 12 years of age.

  • Urinary Tract Infection

    This medicine is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. `
  • Tonsilitis/Pharyngitis

    This medicine is used in the treatment of infections of the throat and airways leading to lungs, namely tonsillitis and pharyngitis, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and some fungal infections.
  • Bronchitis

    This medicine is used in the treatment of bronchitis, which is an inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and some Mycoplasma pneumoniae.
  • Gonococcal Infection

    This medicine is used in the treatment of a gonococcal infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to cefixime, any other beta-lactam antibiotics, or any other inactive ingredients present along with these medicines.

    - Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in such cases.
  • Bleeding disorders

    - This medicine should be used with caution in patients with bleeding disorders due to the increased risk of excessive bleeding. Regular monitoring of prothrombin time is necessary in such cases. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
  • Kidney Diseases

    - This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of impaired kidney function due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
  • Use in pediatrics

    - This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 12 years of age; oral suspension or chewable tablets should be used for these patients.
  • Drug resistance

    - Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.
  • Driving or Operating machinery

    - This medicine may rarely cause dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience dizziness during treatment with this medicine.
