Description

Canapril 5 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and certain other heart conditions. It is important to maintain a proper diet and exercise regularly when taking this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have a known allergy to it.

Contraindications of Canapril 5 MG Tablet

  • Allergy

    Avoid taking this medicine, if you have a known allergy to it or any medicine of the same class.
  • Aliskiren

    Use of these medicines is not recommended in the elderly population with diabetes and kidney disease with CrCl less than 60 ml/min.

Warnings

Warnings for special population

  • Pregnancy

    - This medicine is not recommended for pregnant women.
  • Breast-feeding

    - This medicine is not recommended for breastfeeding women.

General warnings

  • Hypotension

    - Symptomatic hypotension may occur in patients with volume depletion or who are treated with high-dose diuretics. Correct the condition before starting Canapril 5 MG Tablet or start the treatment at reduced doses.
  • Hyperkalemia

    - Canapril 5 MG Tablet may cause an increase in the potassium levels in the blood. Use with caution in patients with concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements and in patients with impaired kidney function.
  • Pediatric population

    - The safety and efficacy of Canapril 5 MG Tablet has not been established in children age below 18 years.
  • Cough

    - Canapril 5 MG Tablet may cause persistent nonproductive cough. It is resolved when the medicine is discontinued.
  • Impaired liver function

    - Canapril 5 MG Tablet may rarely cause liver injuries like jaundice or hepatitis. Discontinue the medicine if any signs of liver injury like increased liver enzyme levels.
