Description
Buscogast 10 mg Tablet contains Hyoscine Butylbromide that is used to relieve cramps (sharp pain) associated with the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestine). It is also used to relieve cramps of the bladder in individuals having kidney stones. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet is also used to treat symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, indigestion, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, etc. associated with irritable bowel syndrome (a disorder that affects the large intestine) and peptic ulcers (an open sore that occurs on the inner lining of your stomach and the upper region of your small intestine). Buscogast 10 mg Tablet shows common side effects like constipation, dry mouth, diarrhoea and headache. Most of the side-effect does not require medical intervention and subsides with time. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking this medicine. Avoid consumption of alcohol while on Buscogast 10 mg Tablet therapy as it may increase the risk of dizziness. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet can be taken on an empty stomach and drink plenty of water. Your doctor may advise you of a time gap if any antacids are prescribed along with this medicine. Take this medicine at the same time for the advised duration to maximize its effect. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet may interact with other medicines. Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines before starting Buscogast 10 mg Tablet therapy. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding before taking Buscogast 10 mg Tablet.

Allergy

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a condition in which the normal communication between muscle and nerves get altered. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet may suppress the communication between the muscle and nerves and worsen the condition.

Acute narrow-angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a condition in which the drainage canals of the eyes gets blocked leading to a sudden rise of pressure. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet may increase the risk of this condition by suppressing the fluid in your eyes. Hence, it is not recommended to use in this condition.

Megacolon

Megacolon is the abnormal dilation (widening) of the colon. It may complicate problems such as Inflammatory bowel disease and Crohn's disease (swelling of the digestive tract). Buscogast 10 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in people being affected by megacolon due to the increased risk of colon relaxation and further major side effects.

Paralytic or obstructive ileus

Paralytic or obstructive ileus is a condition in which there is a blockage in the intestine without any physical obstruction. It may occur due to the impairment of nerves and muscles of the intestine. Buscogast 10 mg Tablet may increase the risk of this condition as it may worsen the obstruction.

General warnings

Driving or operating machines

Use of Buscogast 10 mg Tablet may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Prostatic enlargement

Buscogast 10 mg Tablet should be used with caution if you have prostatic enlargement (gland present below the urinary bladder in men gets enlarged). This medicine increases the risk of urinary retention and close monitoring of water intake and output is indicated. Consult your doctor if you experience pain in and above the genital area.

Use in children

Buscogast 10 mg Tablet should be used with extreme caution in children under 6 years and only under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.

Missed Dose

If you missed a dose of Buscogast 10 mg Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Take your next dose at your usual time. Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Never take Buscogast 10 mg Tablet more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, seek a doctor's consultation at the earliest.

Take Buscogast 10 mg Tablet at the same time every day, either with or without food. Do not skip any dose and finish the complete course as suggested by your doctor. Use caution while driving vehicles or doing anything that requires concentration as Buscogast 10 mg Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet in your mouth. It may cause diarrhoea. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration while taking this medicine.

How it works
Buscogast 10 mg Tablet relaxes the smooth muscles of the stomach, intestines, and the genito-urinary tract and relieves muscle spasms and cramps. It also suppresses the body secretions majorly in the stomach to reduce the acid secretions that prevent sudden contractions and thus relieves cramps.
