Description

Oflo M Suspension is a combination medicine which may be used for the treatment of bacterial and protozoal infections such as giardiasis, amebiasis, trichomoniasis, enteritis, etc. It may also be used for the treatment of infectious diarrhea caused by bacteria or protozoa.

What is it prescribed for?

Bacterial infections

This medicine may be used to treat the infections caused by bacteria in the lungs, genital areas, etc. caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, or Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium species, etc..

Protozoal Infections

This medicine may be used in the treatment of infections such as giardiasis, amebiasis, enteritis, etc. caused by organisms like Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, etc.

Bacterial and Protozoal diarrhea

This medicine may be used in the treatment of diarrhea caused by bacteria and protozoans like Campylobacter, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, etc.

Traveler's Diarrhea

This medicine is used in the treatment of Traveler's diarrhea which is a digestive tract disorder caused by drinking contaminated water or eating contaminated food.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of tendon rupture or tendinitis (a condition in which the tissue connecting muscles to the bones becomes inflamed) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Myasthenia gravis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of myasthenia gravis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

General warnings

Tendinitis and Tendon rupture

Use of this medicine may increase the risk of developing tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after the treatment. This may affect your shoulders, hands, ankles, or other parts of your body. You are at a higher risk if you are more than 60 years of age or if you have undergone a transplant of kidney, heart, or lung. You are also at a higher risk if you are on corticosteroids like dexamethasone, methylprednisolone, or prednisone. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Drug-resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing benefits and may even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Driving or operating machinery

Use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as blurred vision, confusion, dizziness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Photosensitivity

This medicine may make you more sensitive to sunlight or tanning lights. You are advised to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to avoid adverse reactions to sunlight during treatment with this medicine.

Blood cell count

Use of this medicine may lower the blood cell count and may lead to leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow aplasia. Close monitoring of WBC count, platelets is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if any signs of low blood cell count appear.

Neurologic Toxicity

Use of this medicine may cause neurological effects like convulsions and peripheral neuropathy. Inform the doctor if you have any neurological problems. Any symptoms of convulsions, tingling or burning sensation of hands and feet should be reported to the doctor.

Liver Disease

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Missed Dose
