Maczone Plus 750 Injection is a combination medicine used for the treatment of infections of the lower respiratory tract, ears, skin and skin structure, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 28 days of age (neonates).

What is it prescribed for?

Bacterial infections

This medicine is used for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacterial species that are resistant to commonly-used systemic antibiotics or ceftriaxone alone. These infections may include urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, bacterial septicemia, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

Bacterial Meningitis

This medicine is used in the treatment of meningitis, which is an inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. This infection may be caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Neisseria meningitidis.

Skin and Skin Structure Infection

This medicine is used in the treatment of infections of the skin and skin structures caused by susceptible bacteria. These infections may include infected wounds, folliculitis, abscesses, cellulitis, ulcers, etc.

Acute bacterial otitis media

This medicine is used in the treatment of an acute middle ear infection (otitis media) which may be caused by bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, etc.

Lower Respiratory Tract Infection

This medicine is used in the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia caused by susceptible species of bacteria.

Surgical prophylaxis

How it works

Ceftriaxone works by interfering with certain processes that help the bacteria to grow and increase in number. Sulbactam inhibits some chemicals produced by the bacteria and makes the bacteria more sensitive to ceftriaxone activity.
