Many pursue medicine, but how many personally call to check on their patients? I must have troubled him endlessly; morning at 7, midnight at 12, but never once did he show irritation. ** *********** ********** ** ********* ****** ** ********* ****** I only regret not meeting him during my father’s illness or my daughter’s time of need.
When I had sudden chest pain this January, I went straight to him without hesitation. One ECG, and he told me my heart was in a bad condition. The very next day, he recommended an angiogram. I didn’t think twice, if he said it was serious, it was. I got admitted to Manipal, and the angiogram revealed a 100% blockage at the mouth of the main artery. An angioplasty was done immediately, and a stent was placed. I was discharged the next day and have been recovering well since.
He has been gradually reducing my medications, always open to listening if any medicine causes discomfort. Never once have I seen him lose his temper. He is much younger than me, yet he feels like family. He scolds me for smoking, then gently explains why I should quit. Now, I’m back to taking classes at college, back to theater, back to life.
