In one word I can say about Bastab Ghosh is “Life Saver”. In September,2024 a tumour has been detected in my mother’ right kidney through a whole abdomen CT scan. My family doctor asked me to appoint a good Urological surgeon for further treatment. I came to Pratco site and searched for top Urological Oncologist surgeons in Kolkata and I found couple of names over here. The good site of Practo website is that they mentioned the patient stories and about their experiences so that a new person can get an idea about that concerned doctor. * **** ****** ** ******* ***** ****** ***** *** *** * ******* **** ** ***** ** *** **** ****** *** ** ****** ** ***** ******** I made an appointment with him in Manipal Hospital and he asked to do a Triphasic CT scan to get it more clear pictures about the tumour. After reviewing the Triphasic CT report Bastab Sir has informed me that he will not remove the right Kidney completely rather he will perform the surgery called “Partial Nephrectomy” which sounds good to me. The main thing which I like most is he assured that he will save my mother’s right kidney as much as he can so that the good portion could be functional as it is and the load will be distributed between the both left and right kidney (remaining portion) as it was earlier.
The Surgery happened on 14th October,2024 and it was a very critical surgery with 5-6 hours duration. One more thing I need add here is that Bastab Sir is also very much concerned about the patient relatives who were waiting on the lounge during the operation. He constantly provided the status of the patient’s health and how much time will it take to complete the operation.
At last the operation was done successfully and no such major breakdown of my mother’s health.
Also she did not require to ICU/HDU support after the operation and she shifted into the general bed. I specially thank to Bastab Sir and his team in Manipal Hospital for performing such critical operation and he did the same thing which he assured me on the first day. He did a successful “Partial Nephrectomy” i.e. not remove the right kidney completely so that the remaining portion could be functional as it was earlier. Also one more thing I need to mention about him is that though the operation has performed successfully but still he visited twice to my mother’s condition regularly and gave her courage so that she can stand on her own legs within 1-2 days.
I remain very much grateful and thankful to him for his kind help and saving my mother’ life.
He is very polite and good human being. Great respect for such Brilliant doctor. Thank you Sir

I recently underwent a nephroureterectomy as I was having gross hydronephrosis in the right kidney. My experience with Dr. Bastab Ghosh was nothing short of exceptional. Not only is he a highly skilled and competent surgeon, but he also possesses a level of care and compassion that goes beyond the call of duty. In this review, I want to express my deep gratitude to him for his extraordinary dedication and the genuine concern he showed during my entire medical journey.
From the moment I met him, he put me at ease with his warm smile and reassuring demeanor. He took the time to patiently explain the procedure, addressing all my concerns and doubts with utmost clarity. This willingness to communicate openly and honestly instilled a sense of trust, making me confident that I was in the best hands possible.
Throughout my pre-surgery preparations, he demonstrated a level of attentiveness that I had rarely experienced before in a healthcare professional. He consistently checked up on me, ensuring I was comfortable and understanding any changes in my health or emotions leading up to the surgery. His approach to patient care was holistic, recognizing that my mental well-being was just as crucial as the physical aspect of the procedure.
On the day of the nephrectomy, I was understandably anxious. However, his calming presence and encouraging words eased my nerves. The surgery was three and a half hours long, and it was a success. My recovery was smoother than I anticipated. The very evening of my surgery, he came to visit me. He asked me to get up and sit. He offered me a cup of hot tea as I was experiencing throat pain. What amazed me most was that he didn't just disappear after the operation. The very next day I was out of bed, and trust me, I couldn’t even realize that I had undergone such a major operation. He had conducted laparoscopy, and thus the pain was minimal due to the medication assigned by him. He continued to visit me regularly; he made calls to the nurses to ensure the status of my health and asked them to lend me support to walk. He monitored every inch of my progress and offered words of encouragement during my recovery process.
He took a genuine interest in my life beyond the confines of the hospital. My birthday fell on the day of the surgery. He didn't forget to wish me. He made it extra memorable by giving me a fresh lease on life. To make it even more wonderful, he handed me chocolate. He remembered details about my family and interests, and during our conversations, it felt like I was talking to a caring friend rather than a doctor. This level of personalized care made all the difference in my healing journey. He must be giving each patient this kind of meticulous attention, but it was amazing for me to receive part of it.
The entire medical team working with him was also incredible. They mirrored his compassion and professionalism, creating an environment that promoted healing and positivity.
In conclusion, I cannot thank Dr. Bastab Ghosh enough for his outstanding care during my nephrectomy. He is more than just a doctor; he is a true healer who goes above and beyond to ensure his patients' well-being. If you are seeking a skilled surgeon who also possesses an incredible level of empathy and compassion, look no further than him. He has not only impacted my life but undoubtedly touched the lives of countless others with his exceptional care.
Thank you, doctor, for being an exemplary physician and for making my journey to recovery a smoother and more comforting one. You are truly one of a kind.
May God BLESS YOU WITH ABUNDANCE AND EVERYTHING YOUR HEART WISHES FOR.

Highly recommendable doctor who made my 8 hours OT as simple as if it was just a small operation, miraculously no pain and no post operation complicacy at all which was my nightmare. On top of that I am probably the youngest patient of 51 yrs who had a radical prostectomy with no incontinence after OT which is a miracle which usually doesnt happen.

UHID: AM20005363. Name: Banabehari Chaudhuri.
I was admitted to Brampton Civic Hospital at Toronto on 29.07.2022 due to gross Hematuria and discharged on 02.08.2022 with Foley Catheter and incomplete treatment. I had to prepone my journey since further Cystocopy suggested in the report was time consuming.
From a reliable source, I could know Dr. Bastab Ghosh of AMRI Hospital, Dhakuria and talk to him over phone before starting from Toronto. He was kind enough to listen to me regarding my problems in detail & advised me to meet him on my return to Kolkata.
From 23.09.2022 I was under the treatment of Dr. Ghosh & very systematically all necessary tests were conducted including Biopsy Tests. It was concluded for Open Prostatectomy plus Bladder Neck reconstruction & the same was done by Dr. Bastab Ghosh successfully.
Gradually my condition was improved & presently I am in a comfortable position.
During my treatment at AMRI Hospital it was noticed that Dr. Ghosh is not only a very good doctor but also very attentive, analytical, calm & brave, co- operative, humorous, friendly, knowledgeable, skill ful and trustworthy. One more thing came to my notice that he is equally friendly for all the patients coming to his contact.
Since my both sons are out of India, Dr. Ghosh encouraged my wife so humorously and reassuring about me that my wife alone could manage the situations comfortably for more than three months.
Above all, Dr. Ghosh has good practical skills, ability to solve problems, leadership &management skills, communication skills & a good bed side manner. Moreover he has the habit of guiding the para medical staff & junior doctors while executing the treatment of different types of patients.
Such a doctor is rarely available in Eastern India so far I have come accross & undoubtedly Dr. Bastab Ghosh will go to the top not only in Eastern India but India as a whole. I wish him all success.

I am sharing my experience regarding the treatment offered by Dr. Bastab Ghosh for my father. My father's PSA level was found to be marginally higher than usual (without any physical discomfort) during a routine check up. Dr. Ghosh recommended Multiparametric Prostate MRI, followed by TRUS guided biopsy. Biopsy report suggested carcinoma in prostate gland and substantiated by GSMA PET CT Scan. Based on the reports and health condition of my father (he is 72, with borderline diabetis and hypertension) , Dr. Ghosh advised Lap Radical Prostatectomy Bilateral Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection. The surgery was almost 9 hours long including the process of anaesthesia. Dr. Ghosh has explained entire procedure and provided full clarity on pros and cons of surgery vs. radiation, pre- surgery preparation and post surgery recovery process. There is no ambiguity related to his method of treatment and nothing went wrong during long surgical window/hospital stay. He is always approachable and provides amicable solution.
Dr. Ghosh also treated my father in law, who had silent kidney stones. He performed RiRS for kidney stone removal and explained the procedure in details before surgery. Both the surgeries were performed at AMRI Dhakuria in 2022.
Dr. Ghosh always gives clear picture of all possible scenarios to family members of his patients, which gives us utmost comfort. Our family is indebted to him for guiding us through difficult times with a smiling face.
We thank you for taking good care of our family members and wish you all the best.

I visited doctor Bastab Ghosh for my father, who had enlarged prostate and already gone through a surgery in 2009 under a different doctor. His prostate was in a condition which could not be controlled only with medicine and needed another surgery and at that time his age was 67+ yrs. Dr. Bastab Ghosh was very clear about my father's health condition and all the aspects\/consequences of the operation. Finally we decided to go for the operation in AMRI Dhakuria and the surgery went successful in January, 2021. Then my father got discharged and we took him home in the afternoon. However, due to some reason at almost midnight (after 11:30 pm) he started bleeding through the catheter, we got puzzled and I called Dr. Bastab Ghosh at that midnight. Not only he picked up my call at midnight, but he guided me through video call and made all arrangements so that I could take my father to my nearest hospital (Uttarpara) to get the catheter fixed ASAP. He continuously stayed in connect with me and I remember it was around ~2AM then also he told me that I can call him anytime if I need to. The gesture he showed that day, I felt like he guided me like his daughter and I will never forget his guidance on that day in my life. I definitely respect him, but from that day I got emotionally attached too with him and still now whenever we have any kind of urology related problem, we cannot think of anyone else than Dr. Bastab Ghosh.
Besides my father's story he helped me too when I went to him thinking my lower abdomen is paining because of urine infection, whereas it was originally a Gyno related issue which needed operation. He helped me like anything at that time too which if I try to describe here would be another story! :)
And still now when my father goes to him for regular check up, he asks about my health too. When I hear this from my father, I smile and thank God for sending such doctors in the earth to help people in need and my eyes get a little wet in gratitude.

My wife was developed leakage in left ureter after 20 days of Total Laparoscopic hysterotomy and urine was coming out both from vagina and urethra continuously. There was no motion of urine and the patient was on diaper.
At this juncture we met Dr. Basrab Ghosh, Uro Surgeon at AMRI Hospital Dhakuria Kolkata. Oh my God from the first visit we felt relaxation since we were very much worried. Immediately he clinically saw the case at OT and recommended CT Scan of pelvic region and he was present with Radiologist in the Console room and detected left ureterovaginal fistula with pelvic urinoma.
It is medical term and in lay man language there was a hole in left ureter.
Then he did the procedure in OT for Left RGP + Ureteroscopy + Laparoscopic Ureter-Neocystostomy with psoas hitch and DJ Stenting,. It was very critical procedure for 06 hours with GA but he told in avery normal way so that we would not be worried. The most important thing is that the whole procedure has been done through Laparoscope. We are very thankful to the Doctor taking utmost care of patient. Now my wife is feeling well and now stent will be removed. Once again, we are very thankful to him for my wife's life.
