1. What is chickenpox?
Chickenpox is an air-borne viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It is also termed as varicella named after the virus.

If you see symptoms of chickenpox, i.e. red or pink coloured itchy and fluid-filled blister like rashes on your skin, then you may be infected with chickenpox. Along with the rash there may be high fever.

Chickenpox symptoms appear between 10-21 days after the exposure with the virus.
5. How long can chickenpox be infectious?
Chickenpox can be infectious from 48 hours before the itchy rashes appear until the blisters crust over with dry scabs.
