What is a fracture?

A break in the continuity of the bone is defined as a fracture in medical terminology.

Symptoms 

  • pain
  • swelling
  • bruising
  • discolored skin around affected area
  • the affected area may be bent at an unusual angle
  • inability to put weight on affected part
  • inability to move the injured area
  • bleeding (if open)
  • dizziness 

Do not move a person with a broken bone until a healthcare professional is present.If the patient is in a place such as the middle of the road ,emergency act should include splinting of the area injured i.e proper support should be provided to stop movement of the broken limb.
