A smile makeover is a plan, not a single treatment. It starts with what bothers you about your smile, and works out the least invasive way to change it. For many people that plan includes porcelain veneers, but not always, and not always first.
What a smile makeover can change
Veneers and related treatments can improve:
staining that whitening cannot lift
the shape, length and size of the front teeth
small gaps, chips and worn edges
mild unevenness
old, discoloured fillings or crowns
A full plan may combine veneers with crowns, whitening, gum contouring or composite bonding. Where teeth are crowded or rotated, straightening them first is often the better route.
Porcelain veneers or composite bonding?
Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic shells bonded to the front of the teeth. They resist staining and reflect light much like natural enamel. In Delhi NCR they typically start from around ₹16,000 per tooth.
Composite bonding uses tooth-coloured resin shaped directly on the tooth in a single visit. It typically starts from around ₹4,000 per tooth. It costs less and removes little or no enamel, but it stains and chips more easily and needs polishing or touch-ups over the years.
How the process works
Examination. Gums, bite, existing fillings and any grinding habit are checked, with X-rays where needed.
Smile design. A digital scan is used to plan the new shape and shade. A trial smile in temporary material lets you see and feel the result in your own mouth before any tooth is prepared.
Preparation. A thin layer of enamel, usually a fraction of a millimetre, is shaped so the veneer sits naturally. Temporary veneers are fitted.
Fitting. About one to two weeks later the veneers are tried in, checked and bonded.
When teeth should be straightened first
If teeth are crowded or turned, hiding that with veneers alone means removing more tooth structure. Aligning the teeth first with Invisalign often means far less preparation and a more natural result. The second case below was treated this way.
Who may need to wait
Active gum disease or decay should be treated first. People who grind heavily usually need a night guard to protect the veneers. Very small or very worn teeth may need a different approach, such as crowns.
How long do veneers last?
With good care, porcelain veneers commonly last many years. Brush and floss as usual, avoid biting hard objects such as ice or pen caps, wear a night guard if you grind, and keep regular check-ups. At our clinic, a veneer that cracks, breaks or comes off within five years of fitting is replaced.

Before your consultation, it helps to bring photos of smiles you like and to note what bothers you most. The right plan depends on your teeth, your gums and your bite, so an examination comes before any recommendation.
