Rhinitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose, caused by allergens or infection. There are several types of rhinitis like allergic or seasonal rhinitis, and nonallergic or year-round rhinitis and infectious rhinitis. The most common causes of rhinitis are pollen, dust mites, certain medicines and overuse of topical nose sprays, changes in the environment, smoke etc.
The common symptoms of rhinitis include sneezing, stuffy nose, runny nose, itchy nose, throat, eyes, and ears, nosebleeds etc. Treatments for rhinitis may include antihistamines, nose sprays and decongestants. In some cases of infectious rhinitis antibiotics may be prescribed.
