Running around the clock with a frantic frenzy from Monday to Friday and when the weekend comes, we have no idea how the two days fly.

In the blink of an eye, it’s Monday again and it’s back to the grind. Many get the idea of weekends wrong and end up with late-night parties with friends and not getting enough sleep, while it seems momentarily fun and relaxing, it drains most of your energy and you end up feeling dazed, tired and frustrated when the week kicks start.

The key to having a great relaxed week is to have your brain and body recharged over the weekend. Regardless of the day, each person should create a block of time to detach from work so they can be fresh and focused when they start back up again.

Here are some tips to make your weekend more relaxed, productive and wellness-oriented.

  • Cook a meal : We seldom enjoy a home-cooked meal and we also tend to eat in a hurry during the very busy weekdays. Cooking is a form of meditation by itself and it’s always good to eat fresh nutrition-packed home-cooked meals once in a while, experimenting with new flavours and taking your own sweet time to enjoy and relish the food.
  • Perform yoga or meditation : Yoga and meditation help to calm your mind and body, making you feel refreshed and energised. Get yourself enrolled in a weekend yoga class, group classes are good to get motivation or sometimes even solo meditation would perform wonders for those who want to declutter their mind.
  • Engage yourself in an activity : It is very important to engage your mind and body in something other than work over the weekend. Pottery and painting classes, and DIY art and craft classes are some of the activities you can choose from to bring out your artistic side and you may be surprised by the amount of calm it creates in your always worked-up mind.
  • Connect with nature : connecting with nature is a great way to relax. Hiking, trekking and even dancing outdoors are some great outdoor activities that you can pretty much do anywhere in the world and it is free. It is a great way to connect with nature and also is a form of physical workout for your body.
  • Enjoy a relaxing bath : Have a nice, long bath and you can also incorporate essential bath oils like lavender, rose etc to soothe your muscles. Get in some candles to set the mood and add in some fresh flower petals or herbs. A relaxing bath helps the body to heal and rejuvenate.
  • Experience a spa bath : Spa baths were traditionally filled with water from thermal hot springs or the sea but you'll now find an array of fragrant and restorative ingredients added to warm water to make your bathing experience all the more enjoyable and effective. Usually, spa treatment that usually takes place in a private treatment room, and will be just for you, or for you and your partner. The bathing experience will certainly feel more luxurious than your one at home. To make the treatment all the more relaxing, your therapist will dim the lights, heat the room to a cosy temperature, and she may light scented candles to create soothing aromas. Whilst just being in warm or hot water cleanses and relaxes you, it is what you add to the water, and the time you take over the ritual, which really distinguishes your experience and ups the wellness factor. These types of baths are different to a regular hot tub or whirlpool bath and some day spas have indulgent freestanding baths or double ended baths for two.
