In our busy lives, stress is common—but how do you know when it’s more than just stress and may need professional help?
In my recent video @drsupriyapsychiatrist, I shared a simple way to understand this:
When stress is manageable ...
- You can cope with it yourself using rest, exercise, or relaxation.
- It’s temporary and doesn’t interfere with your day-to-day activities.
- You still feel connected with your emotions and the people around you.
But it’s time to seek help when...
1. Stress becomes persistent. You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or low for days or weeks, not just hours.
2. Your functioning is affected. You find it hard to concentrate, meet work deadlines, or maintain relationships.
3. You’re not sleeping well. Either you're sleeping too much, too little, or waking up tired every day.
4. Your coping isn’t working anymore. What used to help—like yoga, exercise, or talking to friends—doesn’t feel enough.
5. You’re feeling emotionally numb or on edge. You may find yourself snapping, crying unexpectedly, or feeling detached.
What You Can Do...
You don’t have to wait until it becomes “unbearable.” A short consult with a mental health professional can give you clarity, support, and a plan.
Remember... It’s not about labeling—it’s about helping you feel better, faster.
