Dixit Dental Care<<<>>>Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental procedure used to treat a tooth that has a diseased or infected pulp (the innermost part of the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels). The pulp can become infected due to deep decay, a cracked or fractured tooth, or trauma. The goal of a root canal is to save the tooth by removing the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and then sealing it to prevent further infection.
A crown is often recommended after a root canal treatment for several important reasons:
A crown encloses the weakened tooth structure
Improves its appearance by matching the natural tooth color, form and shape.
Protects it from acids and bacteria in the mouth
Protects it from bite forces and increases its life.
