Dietary Advice in Diabetes

- Eat smaller meals more often (4-5 times a day).
- Try to maintain regular timings and avoid skipping meals. NOT TO FAST.
- Eat salads (without mayonnaise), plenty of green leafy vegetables and high fiber rich foods.
- Eat brown rice instead of white rice.
- Avoid roots & tubers (potato, sweet potato, yam), sugar, glucose, jams, jaggery, honey, sweets, beverages like Horlicks, etc.
- Avoid rice, sweets, fatty food, oily /fried food.
- Avoid high glycemic food like cheese, mango.
- Avoid alcohol (if consuming).
- Cut down non veg food (especially red meat), if consuming, eat only egg white (avoid egg yolk).·
- Quantity of any oil should be restricted.
- Do regular exercise for at least half an hour every day.
