Clear aligner prices in Delhi and Gurgaon range from a few tens of thousands of rupees to a few lakh. They are all clear plastic trays, so why the difference? Here is how I explain it to patients.
Are cheaper aligners the same as Invisalign?
No, though they look similar. The tray itself is the smallest part of the cost. What you pay for is the planning, the material and the supervision while your teeth move. Invisalign uses its own SmartTrack material and planning software. Many lower-cost brands use generic plastic and simpler planning, so the two are not interchangeable.
Who plans your treatment?
This matters most. With many direct-to-consumer aligner companies, the plan is made remotely from a scan or photos, and you may rarely see an orthodontist. With orthodontist-led treatment, a specialist checks your bite, gums and X-rays, designs each tooth movement and reviews your progress in person. Moving teeth without checking the bone and gums is where problems such as gum recession, bite changes or relapse begin.
When do low-cost aligners work well?
For mild cases: small gaps, slight crowding of the front teeth or minor relapse after old braces. Even then, an in-person check first is wise, to rule out gum disease, decay or a hidden bite problem.
When is specialist planning worth it?
When there is moderate or severe crowding, a deep bite, open bite or crossbite, rotated teeth, a narrow jaw or a history of gum problems. These cases need attachments, staged planning and sometimes elastics.
What does Invisalign cost?
Invisalign in Delhi NCR usually costs between ₹1.5 and ₹3 lakh, depending on complexity. The exact figure should come after a 3D scan. When comparing quotes, check whether refinement aligners, retainers and follow-up visits are included.
Get a proper orthodontic examination first, whichever route you choose. A scan and an orthodontist's opinion will tell you whether your case is simple enough for a basic option or needs specialist planning.
