CERVICALRADICULOPATHY

It is clinical description of when a nerve root in the cervical spine is inflamed or damaged, resulting in change in neurological function. 

Neurological deficits such as numbness, altered reflexes , or weakness and may radiate into shoulder, arm , hand or fingers. Likely to occur in older people due to spinal degeneration ( age 50 approx. ).

CAUSES 

1. Cervical foramen stenosis

2.Degenerative changes 

3. Cervical herniated disc 

4. Fracture 

5. Tumor 

6.Sarcoidosis 

RISK FACTORS

1. Age (40sto 50s )

2. Strenuous activities 

3.Repetitive neck motions 

SYMPTOMS 

Symptoms are most commonly on just one side of the body but they can be both sides. 

1. Sensations: Feeling of numbness or reduced sensations in the skin.

2. Motor :Weakness or reduced coordination in one or more muscles .

3. Reflexes reduced .

TESTS FORCERVICAL RADICULOPATHY

 1)SPURLING TEST 

A Patient will be in sitting position. Therapist will bend the neck towards symptomatic side and apply some pressure on the top of your head.

2. SPURLING TEST B 

In addition to bending your head towards the symptomatic side therapist will extend and rotate. Then pressure will be applied.
