Tooth decay is a serious health problem and is often necessary to repair cavities. Conventionally silver amalgam was used for restoration. Nowadays, glass ionomers and composites are in use. Recently, various calcium silicate-based products have been launched in the market like Biodentine and MTA (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate). These materials are very biocompatible and also mimic dentine. So are also known as man-made dentine. They also have versatile applications and also have good sealing properties. They have given promising results.
