We all face this problem once in a while in our lives where we don't know how to communicate with the person or a group of people surrounding us.Many of us face this problem on a daily basis. Here are some simple tips and tricks to improve that communication and increase your overall sense of confidence as well.

 1. Learn the basics of nonverbal communication: To communicate clearly and confidently, adopt proper posture. Avoid slouching, folding your arms or making yourself appear smaller than you are. Instead, fill up space you are given, maintain eye contact and (if appropriate) move around the space. Nonverbal communication is as important as the verbal aspect.

2. Ask for honest feedback: Getting honest feedback from peers, family members and colleagues of your team is critical to becoming a better communicator. If you regularly solicit feedback, others will help you to discover areas for improvement that you might have otherwise overlooked. Practice with known people and ask for feedback.

3. Get to know your audience: To communicate effectively, it is important to get to know your audience first. Each audience is different and will have different preferences and cultural norms that should be considered when communicating. Read about various current topics and scenarios happening so that you can easily participate in the communication without feeling left out. Connect at a personal level if possible. Look for places where interests overlap if any exist. Even in a professional situation, there may become personal interests in common, hobbies, sports, children, etc

4. Be a good listener: “Listen more than you talk.”To communicate effectively, first listen to what others have to say. Then you can provide a thoughtful answer that shows you have taken those ideas into account.  being a good listener is a key to be an effective communicator.

5.  Watch your tone: While it's sometimes necessary to be assertive in order to make your point, don’t be aggressive.  Be confident and direct, while still adopting a calm, cooperative tone.

6. Be your authentic self: Today many people are turned off by those who feel the need to put on a show to make their point. Instead, people are attracted to someone who speaks from the heart and is genuine, transparent, and real.

7. Practice humility: Humility is having a modest view of one’s own importance. It is one of the most attractive personality traits one can possess and is one of the most significant predictors of someone who is respected. People who speak with humility and genuine respect for others are almost always held in high regard.
