Here are the 10 Commandments to avoid Computer Vision Syndrome:

1. Screen distance should be at least 25 inches

2. Keep the monitor slightly tilted ie monitor top should be slightly farther from the eyes than  its bottom

3. Screen Dark letters on a light background

4. Viewing area of the monitor should be 15 to 20 d below horizontal eye level

5. Use a chair with arms

6. Indirect lighting which is ceiling suspended is preferable. use curtains to avoid outside light

7. Avoid direct airflow on your eyes

8. Short visual breaks every half an hour are  recommended

9. Blink your eyes frequently to avoid dryness of eyes

10. In case of severe dryness, one may use lubricating eye drops after consulting a doctor
