A learning disorder characterised by reading difficulty, dyslexia is caused by issues related to identifying sounds of speech sounds and understanding their relations to letters and words (decoding). The language-processing areas of the brain are affected. Individuals usually have normal vision and intelligence.

Dyslexia is a genetic disorder which is hereditary, and is caused by:
•Defective genes affecting reading and language processes of the brain processes
•Environmental factors like certain toxins, but these arent clear yet

At an early age, it becomes difficult to diagnose dyslexia. It is generally detected when a child starts schooling. Some of the early signs include:
•Talking late
•Slow learning of new words
•Issues with word formation, remembering numbers, colours, and naming letters
•Learning or reciting nursery rhymes

Accepting your child has dyslexia, and starting immediate treatment will help to a great extent. Following steps can be taken:
•Consulting a doctor
•Readout loud to your child (around six months) or read together as your child grows
•Listen to the books in recorded form with him
•Coordinate with the school staff
•Encourage reading by setting an example or dedicating particular hours for reading

•Tests to check hearing and vision
•Neurological test to check the functioning of the brain
•Psychological tests to check mental health
•Educational tests to check skills related to reading, writing, etc
