The problem that prevents a couple from experiencing satisfaction during the phase of sexual response is referred to as Sexual Disorder. Sexual Disorder is common and 43% of women and 31% of men are affected to some extent. Sexual Disorder is a hesitant topic to discuss and hence oftentimes the condition goes untreated. What are the types of Sexual Disorders?

There are 4 categories of Sexual Disorder and they are:

• Desired disorder - lack of interest in sex
• Arousal disorder - unable to physically arouse
• Orgasm disorder - absence or delayed climax
• Pain disorder - pain sensation during intercourse

What are the symptoms of Sexual Disorders?

Symptoms in men:

• Erectile dysfunction
• Retarded ejaculation
• Premature ejaculation

Symptoms in women:

• Unable to orgasm
• Inadequate vaginal wetness
• Inability to relax the vaginal muscle to allow intercourse

Common symptoms:

• No desire for sex
• No arousalPain 

What are the causes of Sexual Disorders?

Mainly there are two types of causes for Sexual Disorders and they are:

• Physical causes - Several medical conditions can be responsible for a sexual disorder such as diabetes, a heart condition, liver failure, etc, and many medications such as antidepressants can also cause sexual disorder.
• Psychological causes - these causes include stress, anxiety, depression, guilt, etc. 

How is Sexual Disorder Diagnosed?

A person’s attitude towards sex is evaluated and contributing options such as fear, stress, anxiety, etc.  All these factors help a clinician to understand the reasons for an underlying cause for the sexual disorder and can suggest an appropriate course of the treatment plan for an individual or a couple.
