The Whipple procedure is done for pancreatic head cancer and periampullary cancer. In localized cancers the success rate of Whipple procedure is very high. However it is one of the technically most demanding surgeries in cancer and may require a long post operative stay. For head of pancreas and periampullary cancer, Whipple is the only surgery available
