Wernicke's and Broca's area
Doctor, My mother had severe head injury post which she was operated immediately in brain. The doctor said that speech portion has been destroyed, that is , Wernicke's and Broca's area have been damaged completely . My concerns is: Will she ever be able to communicate ? If yes then till what level she can communicate. If no then is there any rehab

Usually most of the recovery takes place in the first 6 months. Some gradual recovery can take place for upto 2 years. It is very difficult to predict about the speed and degree of recovery in advance. Only time will tell. Speech therapy and rehabilitation  are definitely helpful.
