Dear Doctor, I wanted to ask about starting a
Vitamin D3 + K2 supplement for a diabetic and heart patient. She is elderly, does not get much sunlight exposure and has been complaining of joint pains. She had taken Vitamin D3/K2 earlier, but we stopped it after her heart attack because someone told us Vitamin K2 might interfere with heart medications.
Her current medicines are:
Morning (after breakfast):
• Metoheal XL 25 mg
• Diamicron XR MEX 60/500
Afternoon:
• Gibtulio S 10/100
Night (after dinner):
• Ecospirin Gold 75/75/20
• Coversyl 4 mg
• Magnesium glycinate
With these medications and her history of heart disease and
diabetes, is it safe to start a Vitamin D3 with K2 supplement again? If yes, what dose would you recommend.
