If the behavior is very unusual need  to consult clinical Psychologist or psychiatrist. Practically consulting a psychiatrist is still stigmatized in India. But make her understand that psychological issues may be other than insanity.  Depression and anxiety disorder are very common and can be controlled with counseling and treatment.  First proper diagnosis is required whether any psychological issue is there or not. There may not be any disorder and this could be Post menopause syndrome.
