No need to worry, believe your doctor, none will advise you wrong, some might advise half as there can be 'less experienced' or 'more experienced' kind of doctor rather than 'wrong doctor' or 'right doctor'. Whatever your doctor has advised is right, it's normal at this age and most of the times it disappears on its own. So don't worry.
Next Steps
coming to your question how to take care, nothing specific to be done.
Health Tips
in case it becomes red, black, it doesn't go in while child is sleeping or you push it in, child is having repeated vomiting episode, see the doctor the soonest.
