TRANSSEPTAL FIBEROTOMY
Hi i want to know about TRANSSEPTAL FIBEROTOMY after braces. I had my braces removed 2 mthns back i got my hawley retainers by my orthodontics. After two months i have seen my one teeth moving. After i said this to my doctor he said you have to do TRANSSEPTAL FIBEROTOMY to cut the fiber around that teeth to prevent it from moving it to its original position. I want to know is it the only solution or there can be any other solution to this? Is it advisable to do? Is fiberotomy save for long run for both teeth and gums? What are pros and cons of fiberotomy? Plz advice

You can also opt for fixed lingual retainers. Transeptal fibrotomy is usually advisable if patients had severe rotations in their teeth. Yes, it is safe for your teeth and gums. This procedure has lot of advantages. It will help your teeth settle in new position and prevent their relapse. You might experience little pain and discomfort few days after the procedure.

Nothing to worry about. The fibres are cut so that they orient in the new position when they form again. However despite this relapse chances are there if you don't wear retainers for a good product of time. Teeth don't like being moved to new positions. They are like teenagers lost in new surroundings. So one does all that helps them adjust to their new surroundings and makes them stay there.
