Thoiroid - 8.31
Hi Sir/Madam my mother got 8.31 in thiroid blood test recently, doc has started thiroid pill, but mother said it should be 10 or more  then we should start thiroid Medecine as told by another docter long time back (Age 59, High BP patient) so she has to take Medecine for life time starting now, is it curable, kindly suggest

You have not mentioned the Values of T4 And T3 . If TSH is elevated like in your case and T3 and T4 are within normal range then it’s sub- clinical hypothyroidism which is a bio- chemical diagnosis were you may not have any symptoms . Ideally sub- clinical hypothyroidism is not to be treated except in few scenarios like during pregnancy, infertility in females or in growing child were there is growth restriction. If TSH is above 10 on two separate occasions and the gap between the test is 2 months then we need to treat it irrespective of symptoms or if Anti TPO is positive .
