I am a 27-year-old female with hypothyroidism, currently taking thyroxine 88 mcg. I was previously also taking a statin, metformin and Gynonorm, and my reports were under control(these medicines were prescribed for 3 months and doctor stopped it later) I stopped these medicines (except my
thyroid medicine) around 2 months ago. My recent fasting tests show
triglycerides 365 mg/dL,
HDL 37.5,
LDL 88.9,
HbA1c 6.1% with fasting glucose 98.9 mg/dL. ALT is 60 and
TSH is 5.84 despite taking thyroid medication.
Is a lifestyle-only approach with repeat testing after a few months reasonable in my case, or should medications such as statin/metformin generally be restarted considering that my levels were previously controlled while taking them?
