TETANUS VACCINE
I have taken tetanus toxoid vaccine in 2007,2009,2011,2013 and 2015, all of them being Tetanus Toxoid Booster dosages. Recently, I had a minor injury which was not deep, only skin had come out, still my doctor recommended for Tetanus Toxoid Booster dosage. I have read that booster dosages are effective for five years after primary immunization of 3 vaccines, however I am not sure of my childhood immunization. My question is whether I am protected against tetanus after having so may booster shots or I have to complete the three dosage course. Also, after how much time the booster shot becomes active after administration?

Hello there.  I can understand your concern.  Why are you so OCD about taking so many tetanus shots? You do not need any shots now.  Just apply some antiseptic over it and take care of the wound. Nothing else needs to be done. TT will not need to be taken for another 10 years. Best regards. Dr. Anil kumar jain. Bangalore.

Hello.... You can consider them as booster if you had vaccinated for TT in childhood.. But you are not sure of it.. One TT booster dose gives protection up-to 10 years.. But it's routine practice to give TT in any surgery or wound. So take one nothing happens...
