Symptomatic treatment
For children's cold/cough the doctor at children hospital has instructed to visit after 4th day if the fever does not go down to suggest any antibiotics etc or further viral tests. My question is for a general cough/cold for initial 3-4 days what medication should we give for symptomatic relief besides the paracetamol. We give cetrizine usually for a runny nose, what should we give for phlegmy throat and chest + cough before deciding to visit hospital? Kid is 4 years old. The doctor gave 2 weeks augmentin last month when kid had small ulcers in mouth. Kid also gets this usually from another kid in society who is following homeopathy medicine and she seems to be carrying cough all the time. Whenever they play together my son gets I'll for 1 week.
