My mother is having swelling in her legs recently. On checking with a doctor he recommended some medication as it was due to High BP.
It would be helpful if you could provide some information as to how can BP be controlled so that she doesn't face this problem again. She is 50 years old

To lower BP and decrease cardiovascular disease risk include the following, with greater results achieved when 2 or more lifestyle modifications are combined
Weight loss
Reduce sodium intake to no more than 100 mmol/day.
Maintain adequate intake of dietary potassium
Maintain adequate intake of dietary calcium and magnesium for general health
reduce intake of dietary saturated fat and cholesterol for overall cardiovascular health
Engage in aerobic exercise at least 30 minutes daily for most days..along with above take medication prescribed by your doctor regularly and be in a regular fallow up with your doctor they will help you further
