Hi Laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) or Extraesophageal reflux disease (EERD) there is reverse flow of gastric ocntents into the upper air and digestive tract causing symptoms, such as cough, hoarseness, and wheezing. Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI) is one of the standard treatment for LPRD alongwith lifestyle changes and changing dietary habits. Patients who do not respond to medicines can undergo Surgical procedure - Laproscopic Fundoplication. It is a very routinely done surgey. Please see a Gastroenterologist for futher evaluation and management. In case of further doubts, please feel free to write back to me. Regards Dr Prashik Meshram
