Cardiac MRI is an excellent modality to diagnose lot of diseases of heart.
It can diagnose cardiomyopathy both infiltrator and dilated , Ischemic heart disease, Viability of myocardium, valvular heart disease , myocardial inflammation etc
But it is not the first line of imaging . If there is any doubt in ECHO or echo is indeterminate we ask for CMR.
For ischemic heart disease if the heart is dilated or EF is very low PET CT can also give a viability status of heart muscle
